SoundOn is the latest project to arrive from the powerhouse that is TikTok. The Australian launch of SoundOn, an integrated platform for music marketing and distribution, was announced at Laneway Festival in Sydney.
SoundOn was designed with the intention to empower artists, especially undiscovered talents, and to help them develop careers in music.
In brilliant news, SoundOn pays 100% of song royalties to musicians in the first year of using the platform (it's also free to join). The programme offers promotional tools, as well as a support system led by a locally based SoundOn team comprising a roster of Australian music industry veterans and TikTok experts.
Artists can gain royalties from the moment they join SoundOn and upload a song to TikTok, and their music is used in a user's video. Artists will also have the chance to find data about audience insights. Those statistics will become interesting, as SoundOn isn't only limited to TikTok - your music can also be distributed to other streaming platforms and, therefore, further build audiences and gain access to digital streaming playlists.
Ollie Wards, Director Of Music for TikTok ANZ, said about the platform: ”Lots of Australian artists have been discovered and found new fans through TikTok, so we're excited to help artists get their music to fans through our new service SoundOn. Backed by a team of local music industry experts, SoundOn gives artists a new way to distribute their music to digital platforms and grow their fanbases".
Wards added, "Our local SoundOn team of A&R, Artists Services and Music Marketers are looking forward to partnering with artists, managers, labels and the Australian Music industry at large, and we’re excited to offer another way for our Aussie artists to get their music heard by global audiences."
