Perth-based comedy freestyle rappers Macshane & Delby travelled all the way to the UK and received four “yes” votes from the judges on Britain’s Got Talent.

Macshane & Delby performed on the Britain’s Got Talent stage last week (27 February), during the second week of auditions for the long-running talent competition series. They received “yes” votes from all four judges: Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, KSI, and Amanda Holden.

After the “yes” votes, Macshane & Delby will progress to the next stage of the competition.

When Simon Cowell said they must be confident to fly all the way to the UK and audition for the show, they laughed, with Macshane responding, “We must be quite insane, because we don’t know what we’re doing.”

Explaining what they did with their act, they said, “We freestyle rap, so what we do is we make everything up on the spot, but we use... the audience.”

They added, “We rhyme about what we can see.” They then asked the audience and judges to hold up interesting items they had with them. Joking that they had “never been more underprepared,” the duo delivered an energetic performance, receiving a standing ovation.

The pair left the judges and audience in stitches with laughter, and in awe, as they utilised their freestyle rap style to observe and make a song out of the judges’ and audience’s items – a passport, a belt, a Nike sneaker, a black handbag, and an oven glove, to name a handful.

You can watch the audition below.

Macshane & Delby’s interactive freestyle comedy rap game show—Whose Rhyme—which they showcased on the Britain’s Got Talent stage, was born following a chance encounter between the pair in 2020.

Since 2021, Whose Rhyme has captivated fans across Australia and internationally, earning the duo a cult following for their high-energy, improvised performances.

They’ve taken the show to the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, comedy events in Innsbruck and Kitzbühel, Austria, and sold-out shows throughout Australia.
