The festival stated that supply chain issues, market saturation, ballooning insurance premiums and extreme weather patterns were to blame.

This That Festival has been cancelled. The news was revealed today via their social media accounts.

The one-day festival was set to be held at Sandstone Point in Queensland on the 29th of October and Newcastle in NSW the following weekend on Saturday the 5th of November.

The festival was set to host international acts Earl Sweatshirt and Upsahl, as well as local legends DMA's, Hockey Ad, Skeggs, Flight Facilities and What So Not amidst many others.

This That have stated that supply chain issues, market saturation, ballooning insurance premiums and extreme weather patterns were to blame. They do however promise that they'll be back next year, sharing that they've already secured acts, including some who were meant to play this year.

"It’s with huge disappointment that we must announce THIS THAT’s October and November 2022 festivals won’t be going ahead at Sandstone Point (QLD) and Newcastle (NSW)," the post began.

"This is due to a combination of issues, including the current level of market saturation resulting in supply chain issues and labour shortages, difficult economic conditions including ballooning insurance premiums and infrastructure costs, and the forecast of ongoing extreme weather patterns. So many factors that have the potential to lessen the experience we want to always deliver.

"We were really looking forward to backing up our two huge events from earlier this year where it was so great to party with everyone back in February and March. For now, the team feels the smartest thing is to take a rest and be fresh and ready for THIS THAT again in November 2023.

"We would like to thank everyone who has already purchased tickets to our October and November 2022 dates.

"Plans are well and truly underway for a huge comeback in 2023 with a heap of artists already secured, including a bunch of those who were due to play this year."
