Dr DreAussie alt-rock act The Rubens' new album Hoops is on its way to becoming the band's highest debuting album on this week's ARIA Album Charts, but to get there, they'll have to topple the iconic rap mogul, Dr Dre.
The Menangle-founded quintet's sophomore record comes three years after their self-titled album which debuted at #3 in 2012. Hoops may just do even better as it is set to again land in the top three, and it also scored our pick for Album Of The Week -check out the review here.
Meanwhile, Dr Dre at 50 years old is also aiming for a top three finish with his first album in 16 years, Compton, which the hip-hop veteran has also said will be his final record. The album was inspired by the upcoming release of the NWA film biopic Straight Outta Compton, which features a slew of massive names in the rap industry, including Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and fellow NWA member, Ice Cube.
Also debuting this week include Aussie metalcore band Buried In Verona who are also looking to land in the top 20 without their fifth studio album, Vultures Above, Lions Below, while US country singer Luke Brian looks set for a top five finish with Kill The Lights.
