The Kid LAROI Responds After Juice WRLD's Name Is Removed From Collab Cover Art

The Kid LAROI has responded after fans raised questions as to why late rapper Juice WRLD's name was removed from the cover art for one of the late rapper's collaborations with his protege.

The change was spotted by an eagle-eyed fan, who posted the change to Twitter. 

"The recently updated the cover art for Juice WRLD and The Kid LAROI's song 'Reminds Me of You' and removed Juice's name from the cover," the user posted on Sunday along a side-by-side comparison of the images.

Fans were understandably disappointed over the sudden omission, given that LAROI's connection to Juice WRLD is a significant part of his success.

Now, amid growing questions, the 19-year-old, whose real name is Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, has now spoken on the matter via the social media site.

Retweeting the images, he insisted that he had no part in the removal of Juice's name, and had spoken to his record label to rectify the change.

“I had NOTHING to do with this & had no idea it was even a thing until now," he wrote. "I’ve hit the label and asked them to change it back,” he wrote on Twitter Sunday (March 26). “I’m sorry & genuinely have no clue why it was changed without my permission.”

"I would never approve of that," the Australian rapper explained in the comments section, adding, "EVER."

The Kid LAROI's career took off when he was discovered by Juice WRLD's manager, Peter Jideonwo. The two artists quickly formed a bond, and Juice WRLD took The Kid LAROI under his wing, mentoring him and helping him navigate the music industry. 

The connection ran so deep that the teen hip-hop star has often referred to the late rapper as his "big brother".

"That was my big brother. I learned a whole lot from him; I’m super-duper inspired by him if you couldn’t tell. I don’t know, to me, he is really the greatest," he said in an interview with Hot New Hip Hop in 2020.

"There’s not a lot of people, I think, that can do what he did, and especially in such a short amount of time. You know, he was so young, like, fuckin’ 19 when he broke onto the scene or whatever." 

He added, "I don’t know, I don’t understand anybody that could freestyle like that or could even accomplish what he accomplished in that short amount of time — it’s insane."

The two collaborated on multiple tracks, including Reminds Me of You, which was released posthumously after Juice WRLD's passing in December 2019 as a result of oxycodone and codeine toxicity.

"Thank you for everything, bro," LAROI wrote at the time of the track's release in a since-deleted IG post featuring the original cover art.
