The veteran soul-punk outfit will perform a run of Aussie shows this August
It's been something of a roller-coaster this year for Australian fans of venerated US soul-punks The BellRays, after a joint headline tour with respected peers the Supersuckers was announced, then cancelled, in the space of a couple of months.
Now, however, The BellRays' faithful can take heart once more, for the band have organised some replacement shows to make it all up to their Aussie supporters on a seven-date tour of the country this August.
The BellRays will get their 'Rockpocalypse' tour under way at The Zoo, in Brisbane, on Friday, 7 August, heading south to play the Small Ballroom, in Newcastle, on Saturday, 8 August, as well as Sydney's Newtown Social Club on Sunday, 9 August, Geelong's Barwon Club on Wednesday, 12 August, Ballarat's Karova Lounge on Thrusday, 13 August, Adelaide's Governor Hindmarsh on Friday, 14 August, and their final performance in Melbourne, at the Ding Dong Lounge, on Saturday, 15 August.
The impending visit marks the third such headline tour of Australia in recent years for The BellRays, who have been an unflinching fixture of the Californian alternative community since their formation in 1990-91. They've remained a prolific force over the past two decades, releasing 14 albums in the 20 years from 1990-2010 and gathering a fervent grassroots fan base in their wake, even as wider commercial success mostly eluded them, though not entirely; their track Zero PM was synched to sixth-gen console game Driv3r, while Revolution Get Down, from 2003 LP Red, White & Black, has been used by companies such as Nissan and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
