Between six and eight police officers and one drug dog reportedly raided Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses' Sydney album launch.

Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses had a few unexpected guests show up to the Sydney launch of their new Everyone's Alone LP at the Factory Theatre last night when a number of New South Wales Police officers showed up towards the end of support act Mike Noga's set.

An eyewitness has given theMusic.com.au a rundown of what went down.

“There was maybe six or eight of them [police officers] and they had a sniffer dog; they didn't interrupt the support, they just sort of walked around the back of the room. I don't even know if Mike Noga would have known they were there."

Noga might not have known, but Perkins certainly did, dedicating a portion of his early onstage banter to the special appearance made by police.

“When Tex came out, they played their first song and then he did about ten minutes of stand up about it, he was on fire! He was like 'Hi everyone, I'm stoned!'"

The Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses Facebook page reported this morning that one person was caught with an illicit substance.

"He was making jokes about it being Ken Gormly from The Cruel Sea, he waved to Ken and said 'Sorry dude, I hope they didn't take all of your stuff!'. Angus Stone was at the Enmore last night so he was saying 'They've probably taken it up to the Enmore to the Angus Stone gig.' But I think he was a bit pissed off at the same time."

TheMusic.com.au contacted New South Wales Police this afternoon in relation to the matter, but are yet to receive comment.

Our eyewitness questioned the effecitveness of such an operation given the demographic of the audience and the amount of resources used.

“When they came through there were probably about 300 people in the room, I reckon the average age would have been 35-40, most of them would have had to book babysitters for the night… do they really need eight cops and a sniffer dog at a Tex Perkins gig? Sure, you might get a little bit of pot, but it's not like anyone would have been popping pills.”

The aforementioned record is in stores today and the tour continues around the country throughout November.
