The US artist has begun removing the "Hey, kids! Spelling is fun" line from her track, 'Me!'

Taylor Swift has reported removed a line from her track Me! just days out from the release of her new album.

As reported by Rolling Stone, the US pop singer has axed the lyrics "Hey, kids! Spelling is fun" from her track ME! which was released back in April this year.

The line, which is shared between Swift and track collaborator Brendon Urie from Panic! At The Disco, appeared in the bridge of the track and has since been removed from the version of the song on Apple Music.

The original version remains on Spotify and on the clip's official video on Youtube.

The divisive lyric was discussed by Swift in an interview with Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little on their radio station earlier this year, with the artist saying that the song was not "really be fully taking itself seriously".

"So the lyrics, that’s a tone decision that we made in the studio," said Swift.

"We literally were like, OK, let’s say ‘Hey, kids! Spelling is fun’ because we want everyone to know that this song is not really serious because it’s not, like, a serious love song."

Swift's new album Lover, her first in two years, is due for release tomorrow.
