Tame ImpalaEveryone's favourite Perth psych-rock kids Tame Impala can chalk up another achievement this week, as the band have confirmed to theMusic.com.au that they've sold out all their current Australian dates.
Playing on the back of their universally lauded Lonerism, their Australian booking agency Artist Voice have told us that as a result it means the band have sold out their world tour up to this point. The Lonerism tour has included dates throughout Europe, the UK and the US.
Tickets are still available to next year's American jaunt – which kicks off in New York in February.
While the response to the band's debut album InnerSpeaker was impressive, Lonerism's acclaim has exceeded all expectations. Beyond the admiration show by Australian audiences and critics, the Guardian, NME and Pitchfork all sung its praises, while celebrity tastemakers such as Mark Ronson, Noel Fielding and Tyler The Creator all took to their Twitter accounts to give their approval. Mighty Boosh actor Fielding called it “delicious”, Ronson said “In the past two years, I have not listened to any album more than their first.”
Tyler offered, “Life Is Great Because Of This Tame Impala Album Right Now Fuckkkkkkk” (sic).
Winning triple j's J Award for the second time, they also became the first Australian band to win NME's Album Of The Year poll – with the affiliated Pond outfit also in the top ten.
They've also played a Pitchfork session as well as the Up Late With Jules Holland talk show.
