Sydney's Black Wire Records Announces Closure

The DIY venue is finally closing up shop

Cherished artist- and volunteer-run record store and DIY performance space Black Wire Records have announced they will be closing up shop this year, just eight months after the Sydney venue announced they were struggling but had "a great hope that things can be held together and, with a bit of luck, even improved".

Not much is known about the reason for Black Wire's ultimate closure, apart from that their last show will be held on 27 April with bands Infinite Void, Canine and Orion gracing the stage for the last time.

The record label posted the event poster titled 'Death To Black Wire' with the caption "It's true" on Instagram.

The not-for-profit venue has hosted gigs from the likes of Ceres, Bad//Dreems and Hannahband, along with art exhibits, poetry readings and album launches since its inception in 2010.
