British glam rock band Sweet (formerly known as The Sweet) are heading to Australia this November, performing a Greatest Hits set as part of their Farewell Tour. The tour marks the band’s first performances in Australia in ten years.
Known for their Greatest Hits, including Ballroom Blitz, Fox On The Run, Hell Raiser, Teenage Rampage, Love Is Like Oxygen, and many more, Sweet are a hugely successful band that have sold over 35 million records worldwide.
With a line-up starring original guitarist Andy Scott, the current version of Sweet stars lead vocalist Paul Manzi, drummer Bruce Bisland, bassist Lee Small, and keyboardist Tom Cory, with all members aside from Manzi providing Sweet’s signature backing vocals/harmonies.
Sweet’s Farewell Australian tour begins on Friday, 8 November, at Melbourne’s The Palms at Crown. The shows continue at the Airlie Beach Music Festival (Sunday, 10 November), Tweed Heads’ Twin Towns (Wednesday, 13 November), Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre (Thursday, 14 November), Brisbane’s Princess Theatre (Saturday, 16 November), Adelaide’s The Gov (Monday, 18 November), Sydney’s Factory Theatre (Thursday, 21 November), Penrith Panthers’ Event Centre (Friday, 22 November), and wraps up at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul on Saturday, 23 November.

After Sweet disbanded in 1981, Andy Scott began touring and making new music with Andy Scott’s Sweet – the version of the band that still exists today. Their most recent album, Isolation Boulevard, was released in 2020.
“The sound was perfect, except nowhere near loud enough,” The Music’s Francesca Palazzolo wrote in a review upon seeing Sweet at Sydney’s Factory Theatre in 2014.
“Supreme harmonies, faultless playing and somewhat cheesy but fun sound effects between songs made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening, reminding one that rock doesn't always have to be heavy or serious; it can sometimes be just Wig Wam Bam, thank you, ma'am, fun.”
