The helpline originally launched in 2018.

Support Act has today announced that its Wellbeing Helpline has expanded beyond just the music and theatre industries to now incorporate all artists and arts workers in Australia.

The 24/7 service originally launched in 2018 to offer expertise in all areas of mental health to members of the Australian music industry.

Support Act CEO Clive Miller welcomed the news for what is a particularly challenging time for artist and arts workers during the COVID pandemic.

“COVID-19 is clearly having a huge impact on the mental health and wellbeing of people across the entire arts sector, with many people struggling as a result of financial hardship, concern about careers, being cut off from social networks and working from home," Miller said.

"Our clinicians can provide support in all these areas and more, and we encourage any music or arts worker who is concerned about their mental health to call the Helpline on 1800 959 500.”

It comes as the Australian Bureau of Statistics report that jobs within the Arts and recreation services have decreased by 19% since March.
