Support Act Announces New Social Worker For Victoria & Tasmania

Continuing the important work for the charity organisation.

Charity organisation Support Act has today announced the appointment of new social worker Carina Hillman who will service Victoria and Tasmania.

With over ten years in the youth and family services sector, Hillman will bring a range of skills and experience to the position, which has been made possible by the support of Michael and Sue Gudinski and Frontier Touring.

"44% of our service users are in Victoria and Tasmania, and with demand for our crisis relief services continuing to grow, we felt it was time to employ a social worker to be responsible for this region," Support Act CEO, Clive Miller, said.

"We are incredibly grateful to Michael and Sue for their generosity in enabling this to happen."

Gudinski added, "We are great admirers of the work Support Act does for our friends and colleagues in music and we were only too happy to answer the call to put someone on the ground in Victoria.

"After all, everyone knows that Melbourne is the true centre of the Australian music universe. We are happy to welcome Carina to the music family."

The news comes only months after Support Act announced its groundbreaking music industry Wellbeing Helpline.

Accessible 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year, the free service (supported by The Tony Foundation and Levi Strauss Australia) is staffed by professional councillors who offer expertise in all areas of mental health to members of the Australian music industry during times of hardship.
