At least us Aussies only have to deal with the fallout of the election and not the actual responsibility of voting and the guilt/disappointment that comes with it.
As America careens towards electing yet another corrupt establishment or another complete tosser within the White House (that's democracy for you), we Australians can just sit back and enjoy the horrid freakshow that is this election as we watch our fellow Western country slip further into an everyday dystopian hellscape.
However, with current political events as this, you often find dissatisfaction and the need for debate and discussion. And when musicians and bands wanna get that debate/discussion ball rolling and they themselves become dissatisfied with the system or the world, you're bound to get new music. So with a band like Stray From The Path and a shitshow for an election campaign like the one the US is embroiled in, it can become a breeding ground for new music and Stray delivers this with their latest single, 'The House Always Wins'.
Of course, if you're even remotely familiar with the band's previous work then I shouldn't have to tell you that the meaning behind this song is about the self-serving interests of governments being put first, with the interests of the people coming second and how the American public is "fucked no matter what" presidential outcome is reached. Cheery stuff.
Now, as for the song itself, it almost sounds like a B-side from last year's terrific 'Subliminal Criminals' (out via Sumerian Records), but that is a-okay with yours truly! Also, this is the first song to debut the band's new drummer, Craig Reynolds (who recently replaced Dan Bourke) and boy, he absolutely kills it on this track.

There will also be new material from Stray on the horizon, as they'll be back in the studio to work on a brand new album with the usual suspect, Will Putney, in early 2017. In the meantime, stream 'The House Always Wins' below.
