Renowned drummer Stewart Copeland is returning to Australia for the first time in 18 years, today announcing his Have I Said Too Much? The Police, Hollywood, And Other Adventures spoken word tour.
The tour begins at Perth’s Regal Theatre on Sunday, 11 January. It continues at Melbourne’s Forum Upstairs on Wednesday, 14 January, Sydney’s State Theatre on Friday, 16 January, and Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Saturday, 17 January, before heading to New Zealand for another two shows: Wellington’s Opera House on Tuesday, 20 January, and Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre on Wednesday, 21 January.
For each show, Copeland will be “in conversation” with acclaimed Perth-based media host, Sarah Tout. Tickets for all dates—including meet and greet packages—will be available on Friday, 5 September, via the Bird’s Robe website.
Copeland said of the upcoming dates, which arrive after a sold-out tour across the UK, “Demand for this intimate new show has surpassed my expectations, and I can’t wait to return to Australia & New Zealand next year and share the stories of my life with even more fans.”
Stewart Copeland is considered one of the best rock and roll drummers of all time. He was one of the driving forces behind The Police, who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Following his career with The Police, which ended in the mid-eighties (before some one-off reformations and a reunion tour in 2007), Copeland began composing music for Hollywood films and operas. Some of his soundtrack work includes Francis Ford Coppola’s Rumblefish and the Oliver Stone films, Wall Street and Talk Radio.
