With only a little blue dog ahead of it...

It was a long-awaited return but Spicks & Specks has certainly made it worth it.

After returning for a limited run of specials over the past few years, the show officially returned with host original host Adam Hills and team captains Myf Warhurst and Alan Brough on Sunday 18 April.

The much-loved music quiz show is due to close out its return season this week after an impressive 10 episodes and has proven itself as a ratings hit once more.

According to ratings from TV Tonight, while the program has found quite a consistent audience thanks to the ABC iView platform, becoming one of the ABC's highest rating catch-up programs.

While timeshifted ratings - which take into account the iView platform - are not available for the full season yet, the show has seen an average of 122,714 viewers tuning in on iView per episode.

This gives the show as the second highest catch-up numbers for an entertainment program, sitting only behind Bluey which can draw in around 150,000 viewers on the platform each day.

While Spicks & Specks hasn't been able to catch Hard Quiz as the broadcaster's most popular entertainment show in the overnight ratings (though Kitty Flanagan's Fisk sitcom did consistently rate higher through its 17 March to 21 April season), it has still proven more popular on iView.

Hard Quiz brought in an average of 64,285 viewers on catch-up to Spicks & Specks' 122,714 viewers over the seven week ratings period.

Love On The Spectrum is proving to be a competitor for Spicks & Specks catch-up figures however. In the three episode run since its 18 May premiere, the show has brought in an average of 114,000 viewers on iView catch-up.
