Spice Girls member Mel C will no longer perform in Poland for New Year's Eve, the singer shared on social media, citing issues that don't align with communities she supports.
The Never Be The Same Again singer wrote in her statement, "In light of some issues that have been brought to my attention, that do not align with the communities I support, I’m afraid I will no longer be able to perform in Poland as planned on New Year’s Eve."
She added, "I hope to be back there very soon. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for 2023."
While Mel C didn't directly discuss the issues she pointed at, many fans presume she's talking about the LGBTQIA+ community.
Her New Year's Eve performance would've been televised on Poland's public broadcaster TVP, which has come under fire in recent years for fueling propaganda against LGBTQIA+ communities, which would have gone directly against Mel C's beliefs and activism. Last year, she was named the Celebrity Ally at the British LGBT Awards. In many areas of Poland, the country has reportedly established "LGBT-free zones" that exclude citizens.
Last year, Spice Girls members Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C "approached a renowned screenwriter about coming up with a story for a second film," according to a story from The Mirror.

The film would be a follow-up to the 1997 film Spice World and would help celebrate its 25th anniversary.
"The girls have been talking about how to mark the film's anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel," a source said. "They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward."
"It is still in the early stages, but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously."
In 2020, Mel C revealed that when the Spice Girls went on an indefinite hiatus in 2000, she was determined to show the world she was more than 'Sporty Spice'.
"When I went off and did my first solo record, I felt quite rebellious," Mel C told Neil Griffiths while appearing on an episode of The Green Room podcast.
"I was frustrated to only be seen as 'Sporty Spice' because I knew there was more to me than that."
