Fremantle’s indie rock faves Spacey Jane are already set to embark on their If That Makes Sense Australia and New Zealand tour over the next few months, but are fitting in a sweet, exclusive gig in Sydney for fans this May in partnership with Spotify.
The free show will be an intimate fan-first experience as part of Spotify’s new Turn Up Aus initiative, which aims to push Australian music to the forefront. Taking place on May 9th, the day will also mark the release of Spacey Jane’s third studio album If That Makes Sense.
The event promises a literal step into the world of Spacey Jane through a nostalgia-ridden visual gallery that holds the band’s history in audio and visuals, showcasing never before seen BTS footage. Accompanying this emotional optical experience will be a private live set courtesy of Spacey Jane, featuring the songs and stories they’re known for, and new ones they’re inviting fans to explore from If That Makes Sense.
So, how do you score tickets?
To ensure the rare, close-up nature of the event stays within the Spacey Jane fan-family, only 5x double passes are up for grabs, with the remainder of tickets going to Spotify’s Top Fans of Spacey Jane. This truly is a money-can’t-buy experience, held exclusively for those who hold the band near and dear to their hearts. If you think you fit the bill, you can enter the draw here to register your interest before May 5. The lucky winners will be notified on May 6.
Earlier this month, Spotify announced their multi-million dollar investment in Australian music through the launch of Turn Up Aus, which was made as a means to connect Australian audiences to its homegrown talent. Two more fan exclusive events are expected to roll out as part of the campaign, as well as industry education initiatives for industry folk to upskill in order to support the next generation of artists and industry leaders entering the industry.

“We've been supporting Australian artists for 13 years, and we've been a significant and consistent driver,” Spotify AUNZ Managing Director Mikaela Lancaster told The Music.
“We want to continue to grow this market. There's growth left,” said Lancaster. “I know people question that, but Australia, according to the latest MIDiA research, grew faster than any of the other English-speaking markets, and a lot of that was driven by streaming. Having a healthy local, domestic market helps Spotify drive a healthy, thriving business and more revenues for artists.”
As such, Spacey Jane are the first Aussie act bridging the gap between band and fan as part of this incredible initiative. Fans can expect to hear everything from Booster Seat to Lots of Nothing to How To Kill Houseplants all in a single night, which is destined to be sought after by many. Get your registrations in so you do not miss out on this one-of-one opportunity.
