It’s going to be a good week for Spacey Jane fans as the Fremantle indie rockers prepare to release a new standalone single, One Bad Day, this Thursday (11 January).
The Aussie favourites dropped the news on social media on Friday night (5 January), thanking fans for their support as they enter their eighth year of being a band. In a Facebook post, Spacey Jane admitted they’d taken some time away from “business as usual” as they “reset”, wrote new music and figured out how they wanted to spend the next few years.
They continued to share details about their upcoming third album, “We’re almost back from our little hibernation, our 3rd album is about half way recorded and we’re really, really excited to start sharing it with you.”
Regarding One Bad Day, they added, “In the meantime, we wrote a song around the time we were wrapping up HCE [2022 album Here Comes Everybody], back at the beginning of 2021. It was too late for that record and is of a different time to the next one but we love the song and wanted to share it with you – something to bridge the gap between what was then and what is next.
“One Bad Day will be out next week on January 11th and we’ll be back soon after that with more of the goodies. We can’t wait for the next chapter of releasing and playing music for you.”

Here Comes Everybody landed at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart upon its release, spearheaded by the triple j Hottest 100 top ten tracks Sitting Up, It’s Been A Long Day, and Hardlight.
In a live review of last year's Grapevine Gathering at Rochford Wines, The Music reviewer Michael Prebeg praised Spacey Jane as they kept the audience warm with their “feel-good anthems and a vibrant stage presence”.
Prebeg continued, “Their atmospheric sound calms the audience with their catchy tunes for everyone to sing along at the top of their voices whilst swaying along in harmony. They end with their biggest hit, Booster Seat, which made it all the way to number 2 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020 and is still going strong.”
