An all-star troupe of Australian singer-songwriters and musicians will pay tribute to the influential music of the 1960s and ’70s at Melbourne’s Live At The Gardens series this November. Think California Dreamin’, God Only Knows, and Mr Tambourine Man as a start.
For this special show, Australian artists such as Husky Gawenda, Charm Of Finches, Hannah Cameron, Stephen Grady, Dan Challis, and, joining the line-up for the first time, You Am I’s Davey Lane, will take to the stage for the concert. Special guest Freya Josephine Hollick will open the show.
Songs From The Canyon is a show designed to transport audiences back to a golden era of music made in Laurel Canyon. The homegrown group will honour songs produced by artists such as Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Mamas & The Papas, The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Carole King, The Doors, and stacks more.
Taking place at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens as part of the Live At The Gardens series, the show will occur on Sunday, 30 November.
Live At The Gardens and Roundhouse members will be able to access pre-sale tickets on Monday, 21 July, at 10 am local time, followed by the general sale on Ticketmaster on Tuesday, 22 July, at 11 am local time. You can find all ticketing and event information on the Live At The Gardens website.
Reflecting on his involvement in the tribute concert, Husky Gawenda said, “Laurel Canyon was a wellspring of near-perfect songs and golden harmonies that still resonate today. Bringing this to life with Melbourne’s best folk artists is like the fulfilment of a dream.
