Only a matter of weeks on from the announcement of their final tour, New Zealand rock icons Shihad have added some additional shows which see them performing classic albums in full.
The veteran Wellington rockers announced the news back in November following cryptic clues that hinted towards the untimely end being imminent.
Shihad’s 37-year career has seen them experience many achievements, such as selling hundreds of thousands of records, winning numerous Aotearoa Music Awards, touring the globe, and getting inducted into Aotearoa’s Music Hall of Fame.
Despite the good times, multiple factors have led to the band’s impending end. The gaps between albums have increased, the band members have commitments outside of Shihad, and none of the members will ever be half-ass being in the band. So, the band—Jon Toogood, Karl Kippenberger, Phil Knight, and Tom Larkin—made the tough call to say goodbye.
However, with just five dates announced around the country throughout February and March, fans knew demand would be high, and with shows selling out, Shihad have now taken the appropriate action by adding additional shows.

On February 22nd, Shihad will now play an additional date at Perth’s Astor Theatre, which will see them running through 1999’s The General Electric in full. Days later, a new show at the Crowbar in Brisbane on February 27th will see them performing 2002’s Pacifier in full.
Over in Melbourne, a newly-announced show at The Corner Hotel for March 5th will see them also revisiting The General Electric, joined by some yet-to-be-announced special guests.
No other dates have been added, and it’s unclear whether more may be announced with only a few weeks before the tour kicks off, but fans fond of records such as The General Electric or Pacifier now have some rare opportunities to catch these exceptional records given a long-overdue playthrough.
Tickets to these new dates go on sale from 10am local time on Friday, January 10th.
