“Thanks for hanging out with me on Double J over the past four years. It’s been a blast."
Long-time ABC presenter and producer Sarah Howells has shared “sad news” that she will be departing Double J at the end of the month after four years.
Posting to Instagram, the Stir It Up host revealed she wouldn't be presenting the blues, folk, reggae and roots show in 2023.
“So, you’ll just have to grab the ABC Listen app and tune into ABC Sunshine Coast Breakfast with me,” Howells said.
“Heaps of great music, awesome stories and good people. My passion for local music and roots music isnt going anywhere, so you can bet I’m going to advocate for it in every way I can!
“Thanks for hanging out with me on Double J over the past four years. It’s been a blast and I’m disappointed that we won’t get to do it in 2023.”

For the past two decades, Howells has presented and produced a number of shows across triple j, Double J and ABC Radio, including Roots N All for 12 years.
No indication has been given by Double J as to who will take over Stir It Up.
Earlier this week, triple j revealed a number of big changes across its line-up, including the departure of triple j Breakfast co-host Ebony Boadu, who will step down at the end of the year and be replaced by comedian, improviser and podcaster Concetta Caristo.
"I never pictured myself hosting breakfast radio, but I'm so grateful for all the experiences it's allowed me to be a part of," Boadu said.
"From counting down the number one song in the Hottest 100, witnessing iconic Like A Versions every week to sharing my favourite new music with people all over the country. Thank you for waking up with us, making me laugh and sharing in such a formative part of my life. I'll definitely miss the people but not the 4 am alarms."
The youth broadcaster also announced that Bridget Hustwaite and Declan Byrne would be saying goodbye at the end of the year.
Latifa Tee will take over Good Nights following Hustwaite's departure and Ash McGregor will be the new Home & Hosed host after Byrne wraps up his tenure.
