Ruby FieldsRuby Fields is celebrating the release of her long-awaited new album, Small Achievements, with a bang.
The Dinosaurs hitmaker already announced a tour to coincide with the album’s release—the first night taking place in Melbourne tonight, on release day. Along with the tour, Fields will host launch parties in Melbourne and Sydney, hanging out with fans and premiering new music, live and in the flesh, for the first time.
An intimate and engaging experience has been confirmed. Fields will answer fans’ questions in a live Q&A, followed by a signing and meet-and-greet. The Sydney event is also scheduled to include a rare, stripped-back acoustic set.
Both events are free, and fans can attend on a first-come, first-served basis. Punters are encouraged to turn up early at The Croxton Front Bar in Thornbury, Melbourne, tonight – before the show starts – and the Bat & Ball Hotel in Redfern, Sydney, on Thursday, 30 April. Both events start at 5 pm.
Along with the album’s release, Fields unveiled the fifth single, Mikey Echo, this week.

“Mikey Echo is a song I wrote about a man named Sharky, who lives at a bar I worked at for years,” Fields explained. “We spoke to each other in the phonetic alphabet sometimes, so ‘Little old Mikey Echo’ is really just ‘little old me.’
“It made sense for Sharky to be the hero of the clip. We just wanted him to be him, as we followed him around for the day. He was such a great sport, even I can’t stand a camera in the face that long. I’m so glad we got to capture all that perfect footage and keep it forever.”
Discussing the album, Fields added, “Working at the Nudge (Billinudgel Hotel) between touring meant becoming a part of the family and getting to know Sharky – a beloved patron and piece of the furniture.
“When he received his Hole-in-1 trophy from the local golf course, it was immediately displayed behind the bar. To me, that small gesture represents a place that celebrates everyone’s achievements, it doesn’t really matter how big or small they are, just how much they mean to you.
“So, I want this album to be a reminder to celebrate shit, because we tend to focus on the next big thing without reflecting on how much we’ve already achieved.”
Small Achievements is out now. Fields will take the album on the road from tonight, hitting stages in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Fremantle. You can find tickets here.
