The local adaptation of the cult-fave improv series will make its debut this year
The Comedy Channel has announced the cast for its impending local adaptation of cult-fave improv series Whose Line Is It Anyway?, due to premiere on Foxtel this year.
The show will be hosted by radio and TV personality Tommy Little, with a regular ensemble cast featuring an array of established funny-people including the endearing and eclectic Rhys Darby (Flight Of The Conchords, What We Do In The Shadows), celebrated stand-up Cal Wilson, internationally recognised performer Susie Youssef, multi-talented improv torch-bearer Steen Raskopoulos and Oz comedy's "youngest veteran" Tegan Higginbotham (only 28, and already a 10-time fixture of the Melbourne Comedy Festival).
The cast is rounded out by a pair of fresh faces in emergent talents Bridie Connell — who brings piles of experience with Theatresports to the table, not to mention a growing reputation for being downright hilarious, so she's more than well prepared for this arena — and Tom Walker, a previous stage-mate of both Connell and Raskopoulos who attended a prestigious clowning school in France. He's since gone on to claim a national Theatresports championship as well as nabbing Best Newcomer at this year's Melbourne Comedy Festival, making his inclusion in the Aussie Whose Line ensemble a natural fit.
The Comedy Channel's Whose Line Is It Anyway? Australia is executive-produced by Kevin Whyte of Guesswork Television and Craig Campbell of +61 TV. It will run for 10 episodes, filmed in front of a live audience in Melbourne, and is expected to make its debut in the second half of this year.
