Rackett Sign With 123 Agency Ahead Of Debut Single & East Coast Tour

The experimental pop-punk quartet kick off their 'Bats' run next month

More RACKETT RACKETT

Emergent Sydney four-piece Rackett have been announced as the newest additions to the roster of acts looked after by esteemed bookers 123 Agency as they prepare to embark on their maiden headline tour up the east coast to celebrate the arrival of killer debut single Bats.

Despite seeming like a wholly unknown entity, the individual members of Rackett have been kicking around the Sydney scene for a while now in other well-known pursuits — you might remember Bec Callander from Bec & Ben; Skarlett Saramore from SHE REX, Fair Accompli or Particles; Ally Gaven from Baby Lips & The Silhouettes or Salvador Dali Llama; or Jessamyn Jean from Mylee & The Milkshakes.

That collective experience has conspired to create a deceptively assured ensemble in Rackett, who have capitalised on their existing chops to find themselves earning a swift reputation for fist-pumping pop-punk tunes that aren't shy about subverting tropes and thwarting expectations. It's served them in good stead, too, having already racked up support slots with the likes of Abbe May, The Bennies and Sticky Fingers (plus a bunch of additional acts as part of their other bands). The fact that they've done all this since forming Rackett at the start of this year only makes them more infuriating impressive.

You can catch them in action on their first east coast tour from Thursday 18 August, when they get under way with a free show at Selina's, in Coogee. From there, the sojourn includes stops in Sydney, Capertree Valley (Psyfari Festival), Melbourne, Bendigo, Wollongong, Manly, Brisbane, Byron Bay and the Sunshine Coast, where they finish up at the Imperial Hotel on Saturday 17 September.

With the exception of Sydney, the Psyfari Festival and Wollongong, all shows on the tour are free; they play with Stonefield in Byron Bay. For a full rundown of dates, venues and other information, see theGuide.

Bats is taken from Rackett's impending debut EP (due January 2017); give it a listen below and head to the band's Facebook page to keep connected.
