German record producer and DJ Tino Piontek, better known as Purple Disco Machine, has cancelled an upcoming run of tour dates as he deals with tinnitus and sudden hearing loss.

“I’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel all scheduled shows from now until mid-July due to ongoing issues with my hearing,” he shared on Instagram. “Over the past three weeks, I’ve been dealing with tinnitus and sudden hearing loss.

“While this has happened to me before, and I’ve been living with tinnitus for the past 25 years, it has never been this severe, and I need to follow my doctors’ advice and give my body the time it needs to recover.”

Piontek added that he “hasn’t taken this decision lightly” and that being unable to honour his commitments is “one of the hardest things” for him. He also expressed gratitude for the “compassion and support” he’s received from the promoters, teams and partners involved in putting on his shows.

His statement concluded, “The good news is that this is a temporary setback, and I’ll be back on the road from mid-July. Right now, the most important thing is giving my ears the rest they need, so I can recover properly and return at 100% for the long run. Turns out I’m not a machine after all!

“Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and your continued support. It means more to me than you know, and I can’t wait to see you all again soon.”

EDM Identity notes that Purple Disco Machine was scheduled to perform at festivals including Caribana (Switzerland), Campo Marte (Mexico City), and US events such as Electric Forest, Day Trip, and more in the coming weeks.

In mid-July, he’s expected to perform once again, with a residency at Pacha Ibiza kicking things off.

Purple Disco Machine brought his funk-oozing tracks to Australia and New Zealand for a limited three-show run last January. The tour marked his first stops in the region since 2018.

The DJ’s most recent album, Paradise, arrived in September 2024.
