PPCA Announce Registration Deadline For Aussie Artists

Get in while you can.

National non-profit organisation Phonographic Performance Company Of Australia (PPCA) have today announced their cut-off period for Aussie artists seeking a share in license fees whose music has been broadcast or publicly performed.

Each year PPCA collect license fees from over 70,000 business across Australia that play sound recordings and music videos and distribute the income to registered recording artists and sound recording copyright owners.

Aussie musicians have until 31 August to register with the PPCA — if you are already registered, it is advised that you notify the PPCA of all releases which you are eligible to claim under the Artist Direct Distribution Scheme before the cut-off date.

By the end of last year, the PPCA distributed $32 million to its registered artists and labels.

Speaking about the benefits of the program, popular singer Josh Pyke said: "Getting a payment from PPCA in January is always like a belated Christmas present."

"It's always been my aim to reinvest that kind of payment back into music, so a lot of my studio gear gets bought around the PPCA cheque’s arrival."
