More Metallica More Metallica

Metallica’s long-awaited M72 World Tour finally touches down in Australia this weekend, kicking off at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Saturday night (1 November).

To celebrate their first shows Down Under since 2013, where they headlined Soundwave Festival, Metallica have launched a pop-up store packed with exclusives for their devoted fans in Perth.

The pop-up store follows Metallica’s collaboration with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, which encourages punters to give blood and plasma ahead of the tour. As a result of the initiative (and dedicated fandom), multiple cities booked up in advance for the blood drives.

While more pop-up stores are on the way (“Each M72 Pop-Up Shop,” the band teased on Instagram), Perth is first. Fans can get their hands on a black, red, and white splatter vinyl edition of Metallica’s latest album, 72 Seasons, as well as an exclusive screen-printed poster and t-shirt designed by Fremantle-based artist Ken Taylor.

Ahead of Saturday night’s show, fans can also buy a skateboard designed by artist Luke Preece, patches related to the Perth show, and a range of classic tees, accessories, and unique tour items. The band also encourages fans to pick up an M72 Fan Card to win prizes, including the chance to see Metallica from the renowned Snake Pit.

Located at Murray Street Mall in Perth, the pop-up store will open at 8:30 am tomorrow (31 October) and close at 8:30 pm tomorrow and Saturday. For its final day on Sunday (2 November), the store will shut its doors at 6 pm.

Following their Perth show, Metallica will perform at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, 5 November, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Saturday, 8 November, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, 12 November, and conclude the Australian tour at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Saturday, 15 November. A few days later, Metallica will cross the ditch and perform at Auckland’s Eden Park on Wednesday, 19 November.

The Australian and New Zealand leg of shows sees Metallica joined by special guests Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies. A limited final release of tickets is available on the Live Nation website.
