Peats Ridge Adds Over 60 Acts In Second Announcement

10 October 2012 | 12:40 pm | Staff Writer

Announcement covers a shitload of genres, really.

Just when you thought today had had enough festival announcements, much loved New South Wales New Year's Eve retreat Peats Ridge has pulled out the big guns. Renowned for their massive line-ups across three days, in their second announcement today they've bolstered the ranks of the event with over 60 acts.

It's too hard to put these artists in any real sort of order, but we will note that at the top is the UK's techno veteran Luke Slater, while on the electronic front there's also Italy's dub multi-instrumentalist Gaudi, and American Detriot house stalwart Theo Parrish.

There's plenty of local talent to, with Melbourne, BIGSOUND and Heineken ad favourites Clairy Brown & The Bangin' Rackettes, world-leaning Tijuana Cartel, Brisbane's Hey Geronimo, rapper The Tongue, and plenty of emerging acts such as Gung Ho, Winter People, Woe & Flutter, Glass Towers, The Falls, Electric Empire and Meniscus.

Luke Slater
He's been dishing out techno tunes at the top level since the early '90s, and he's set to bring the house/valley down with his much-better-than-your-average-techno-dude live show.

Clairy Browne & The Bangin Rackettes
You've surely heard of these gals by now, be it by Melbourne prominence, that Heineken ad or the American charts.

Winter People
Sydney folk rockers Winter People don't shy away from high-profile comparisons, nor harmonies. Two violinists, five vocalists.

Gung Ho
Brisbane's latest 'surf' act to by hyped, these guys are grounded enough to cut through that shit. As triple j favourites, they're engrained enough in the Brisbane scene that they'll soon be a national concern.

Skryptcha
Sydney boy Skryptcha has a degree close to our hearts – one in journalism – but he may have put it to better use judging by recent single Dance. Video clip below. Didn't I see that guy hosting a show about video games?

Current Swell
Canadians roots-rockers Current Swell land in Australian with a strong reputation surrounding their live show and a more reflective outlook from their 2009 breakout. Everyone knows how much Australians love Canadian bands.

Glass Towers
Counting people like Neil Finn and top producer Wayne Connolly as fans, indie rockers Glass Towers have been enjoying a slow, tempered, build in recent years.

The festival takes place at the picturesque Glenworth Valley, from Saturday 29 to Monday 31 December (Tuesday 1 January is pack-up/hungover day). Tickets here now!
