NSW Premier Still Opposed To Pill Testing Despite Success Of Latest Trial

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has refused to change her stance on pill testing, despite positive results from the latest trial at Groovin The Moo festival in Canberra this past weekend. 

230 punters attending the festival on Sunday took part in the trial (more than double from the pilot run in 2018), with 171 substances tested. 

CEO of Ted Noffs Foundation, Matt Noffs, told The Music that seven samples tested on the day were found to be deadly, with early data suggesting all of which were discarded.

However as 7 News reports, Berejiklian remains opposed to introducing pill testing regularly at festivals across the state.

"They haven't shown there's any evidence yet," she said today.

"My position on pill testing remains firm. I don't think it works, I don't think the evidence is there and I don't support it."

It comes after Noffs told The Music on Monday that plans are in motion for pill testing to be discussed for Queensland, following the latest trial. 

"All in all, the second pilot has shown that this needs to be available at every Australian festival," he said.
