Can Trevor Noah live up to expectations?

If you're still mourning the loss of beloved host and comedian Jon Stewart from TV screens as much as we are then you'll take some solace with Foxtel's announcement today that the brand new series of The Daily Show will air in Australia express from the US starting next week on The Comedy Channel.

Former show correspondent Trevor Noah will take over hosting duties following the departure of Stewart who stepped down from the role last month after a memorable 17 years.

The show will screen around the country from Tuesdays to Fridays at 7.30pm AEST just hours after the US broadcast, with the premiere episode to air on Tuesday 29 September.

The news comes just a day after Stewart picked up his final Emmy Award win for the show where it took out the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category. Under Stewart's helm the satirical news program won the award an astounding 10 times in a row between 2003-2012.

Many are curious to see if Noah can live up to the standard set by Stewart, but he will be boosted by the help of  Aussie stand up act, Ronny Chieng who was this month announced as a new correspondent for the show.

Meanwhile, The Comedy Channel have also recently confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will screen in Australia, with the premiere episode to screen tonight.

As The Daily Show's new host, Trevor Noah will follow the news (almost) anywhere.
