The compilation is in support of Wildlife Park Rangers.

More Tex Perkins More Tex Perkins

The plight of Wildlife Park Rangers is not one spoken of too frequently, but The Thin Green Line Foundation is an organisation that looks to support the people working in this, often very trying, profession. A number of Australian musicians have noticed the importance of their work and agreed to donate songs, royalty free, to a fundraising compilation called Greenline Grooves.

There have been over 1,000 Park Rangers reported as killed by commercial poachers and armed militia groups in the past decade, though the foundation is concerned that perhaps the real figure is much higher. Around the world some Rangers work in conditions without very basic human rights, such as shelter, food, clean water or any security measures whilst bravely protecting endangered species.

Tex Perkins has given an exclusive, unreleased track called One More For The Song to the compilation, while other artists such as Gotye, Mia Dyson, John Butler Trio, Shane Howard, Jordie Lane, Xavier Rudd, Dan Sultan, Clare Bowditch, Archie Roach, Nikki Bomba and Ash Grunwald have also offered songs.

The vast majority of the CD's profits are going direct to the foundation, as all record company, distribution and distribution work is being done on a not-for-profit basis. Manufacture of covers and discs have been supplied at cost price and artwork, publicity, and marketing assistance are all supplied at nil cost.
