Ahead of triple j’s highly anticipated Hottest 100 of Australian Songs later this month, the national broadcaster has shared a couple of teasers to ramp up the hype.

In a post shared on Instagram on Friday (4 July), triple j revealed that things are incredibly close for a couple of songs on the countdown. Which Aussie classics won’t make the cut? Who’s falling into the top ten? Top three?

Just one vote separates the song from coming in at #100 or falling outside the countdown at #101. Meanwhile, the song that has held the #4 spot for a little while has just traded places with #3, as the top four songs have battled it out over the past week. Elsewhere, only 27 votes separate songs #6 and #7, and two songs are tied for #10. You can check out the post below.

Have you submitted your votes yet? You can vote for your ten favourite Australian songs here until voting closes on Thursday, 17 July, at 5 pm AEST.

triple j’s Hottest 100 of Australian Songs will take place on Saturday, 26 July, from 10 am AEST. The countdown will air across the entire triple j network, which means that you can listen on triple j, Double J, triple j Unearthed, and triple j Hottest.

The Hottest 100 of Australian Songs is dedicated to homegrown music that has resonated across generations and defined the Australian sound.

As a press release notes, the upcoming special countdown aims to champion the artists and tracks created in our own backyard that have had a lasting impact on the Australian audience. You can vote for classics and modern anthems, as long as the songs you’re voting for were released before triple j’s 50th birthday (19 January 2025).

In addition to the tunes, the Hottest 100 broadcast will feature an all-star cast of beloved triple j and Double J voices, including Ash McGregor & Dave Woodhead, Dylan Lewis & Yumi Stynes, Abby Butler & Tyrone Pynor, Concetta Caristo & Luka Muller, and Zan Rowe & Lucy Smith.
