Including an animated series based on the music of The Beatles

Netflix has made it even harder to justify ever leaving the house over the next few months by announcing a raft of premiere and return dates for several shows, including the eagerly awaited Gilmore Girls revival event, a new season of cult anthology series Black Mirror and more.

Black Mirror — the brainchild of British satirist and broadcaster Charlie Brooker — returns for its six-episode third season's Netflix debut, hitting the service globally from 12.01am on Friday 21 October, while The Gilmore Girls four-part mini-series, A Year In The Life, will make its world premiere at 12.01am on Friday 25 November.

Alongside those two big drawcards are several other enticing series, including Beat Bugs, an animated program for kids inspired by the songs of The Beatles and featuring covers of Lennon/McCartney songs by the likes of PinkJames CordenRegina SpektorSiaThe Shins, Robbie WilliamsEddie VedderOf Monsters & Men and more. With a soundtrack of that calibre, it's almost guaranteed to be as popular with parents as it is with the little ones when its first season becomes available globally on Wednesday 3 August, with season two following suit on Friday 18 November at 12.01am.

Also on the line-up is the familiar-but-different Lovesick — actually the second season of the show formerly known (for some reason) as Scrotal Recall. Clearly understanding how terrible that name actually is, Netflix have rolled with a far more appealing — if also more anodyne — approach for round two. Meanwhile, foodies are well catered for (heh) by the returning Chef's Table: France, back on 2 September from midnight, while comedy lovers are also looked after by the inclusion of the global premiere of Easy, starring the likes of Orlando BloomHannibal BuressEmily Ratajowski, Marc Maron, Malin AkermanAya CashJane AdamsJake Johnson and more, which makes its premiere at 12.01am on Thursday 22 September.

Additionally, the second half of the first season of Ashton Kutcher's comedy series The Ranch, co-starring his That '70s Show castmate Danny Masterson, will rear its head on 7 October; documentary series Captive hits on 9 December; and a 'reimagining' of Norman Lear's One Day At A Time, starring Justina Machado and Rita Moreno, kicks off the service's new year when it lands on 6 January.

Shows that have earned renewals for their second seasons, returning in 2017, include ChelseaLady Dynamite and Real Rob, while Beat Bugs creator Josh Wakely has also just successfully had a new series picked up by Netflix, an as-yet untitled Motown project also aimed at kids and families that will feature Smokey Robinson as executive music producer.
