INXS lead guitarist Tim Farriss is suing the operators of a Sydney boat rental company following an incident in 2015 that he says ended his career.
As The Guardian reports, Farriss’ left ring fingered was severed and others injured while using anchoring equipment hired from Church Point Charter, with the guitarist claiming operators John William and Jill Mary Axford were responsible for the injury.
“My hand was covered in rust, blood and mud, but I could see one of my fingers had been severed and the others were disfigured, badly lacerated and bleeding,” Farriss said in his evidentiary statement.
Farriss claims he was not properly instructed on how to use the anchoring equipment on the Omega Clipper 34 boat hired, but the Axfords have insisted he was.
He underwent an 11-hour surgery to have his finger reattached, and is seeking special damages for loss of earnings and out-of-pocket expenses.
“I find my reattached ring finger to be an annoyance and unsightly. I have considered having it amputated,” Farriss said.
“I am no longer able to play guitar other than a few beginner-level chords.”
