Former Bad Seed said the band had become a burden
Former Bad Seeds member and acclaimed solo artist Mick Harvey has spoken to theMusic.com.au about being edged out of the creative process of Nick Cave's band.
Harvey, who has a new album (Four) Acts Of Love, claimed that he became lumbered with the band's organisational processes as he lost creative imput.
Asked if he missed being a Bad Seed Harvey replied, “From an organisational point of view, no, because that was the bit that had become very hard… with my own stuff and previously with The Bad Seeds I'm very involved with the organisation.
“It's quite a burden actually, and that's quite a hard aspect of doing the solo stuff still but it's much less of a burden than doing the Bad Seeds organisation, being involved in that management is quite difficult. And in the end things had got out of balance with my involvement with the creative side for whatever reason, I just found that I was doing business and was feeling a bit disengaged from a lot of the creative process. I didn't get into music to be a music manager.”

He added, “Once I actually left the Bad Seeds it was a huge relief because all the stress and the business stuff just evaporated and I fell like I'm a much more balanced an approachable person.”
