'Bat Out Of Hell' breaks a record.

Music legend Meat Loaf is back on top of the ARIA Albums Chart one week on from his passing.

Last Friday, the US singer, real name Michael Lee Aday, has passed away, aged 74, surrounded by his family and close friends.

With fans revisiting the legend’s music over the past week, Bat Out Of Hell has soared straight back to #1, marking its ninth week on top of the Albums Chart since its release in ’77.

The seminal LP spent eight straight weeks at #1 between June and August 1978 and has been accredited 25 x Platinum in Australia.

It’s been 2,269 weeks since Bat Out Of Hell’s last appearance at #1, which is now the longest gap in Australian charts history, surpassing the Grease soundtrack, which had 657 weeks between #1s (Nov ’78-Jun. ’91).

Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell has also re-entered the Albums Chart, placing #37.

Over on the Singles Chart, The Kid LAROI is honing in another record as Stay returns to #1 following a 14-week break.

The Aussie artist’s collab with Justin Bieber, which claimed #2 in the Hottest 100, has now spent 15 weeks on top, making it equal second on the list of most weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart alongside Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You.

Stay will need to hit 24 weeks at #1 to rival the current record holder, Tones & I’s Dance Monkey.
