Mark Hoppus has today shared that he is receiving treatment for cancer.

The blink-182 and Simple Creatures frontman shared the news via social media today saying, "For the past three months I've been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer".

"It sucks and I'm scared, and at the same time I'm blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this," continued the 49-year-old.

"I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I'm trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can't wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future. Love to you all."

Bass player Hoppus co-founded California punk group blink-182 in 1992 alongside guitarist Tom DeLonge and Scott Raynor, with Raynor replaced by long-serving drummer Travis Barker in 1998.

DeLonge departed the group in 2015, with Alkaline Trio member Matt Skiba stepping in as his replacement. The group released their eighth studio album, Nine, in 2019.
