A man has been seriously injured following an alleged assault at Music In The Vines festival over the weekend.
The festival takes place in Macarthur, Victoria, and saw a man air-lifted to a Melbourne hospital as he had suspected critical injuries. Festival organisers said that a brawl allegedly broke out while punters were waiting for buses after the festival.
As news.com.au reports, a 48-year-old man has been charged with recklessly causing serious injury, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and affray to the 41-year-old currently in hospital.
Two other men were arrested following the incident but have since been released.
"The Committee of Music in the Vines is deeply saddened by an incident that occurred after our festival came to a close last night," organisers wrote in a statement yesterday. "Security and support staff immediately attended and emergency services responded quickly to the situation."
Music In The Vines President Pieter Badenhorst also noted that organisers have been in touch with the injured man's family. "We are receiving updates and have offered the man’s family our full support during this difficult time," he wrote.

"Our sixth running of the festival was one we as a committee were extremely proud of, with patrons enjoying our family-friendly event," Badenhorst commented in the statement.
Badenhorst added, "It is extremely sad that such an unfortunate incident has occurred, but we praise the response intervention from local police and emergency services."
The Music In The Vines organisational committee isn't commenting further as the investigation is ongoing.
The 2023 Music In The Vines line-up includes folk and rock acts such as the Pierce Brothers, Bones And Jones, Little Georgia, The Gold Street Sound, Jade Alice, Trish & Isaac and Kinnon.
