Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers passed away in mid-October at age 48.

On Saturday (29 November), the band played their first show since Rivers’ passing in Mexico City, the first date on their Latin American run, and paid tribute to him.

Rolling Stone reports that during the show, the nu-metal icons aired a tribute video on the screen behind them. It featured clips of Rivers on and off stage with his bandmates, and the audience watched the video along with them.

At the end of the video, the text on the screen read: “Sam Rivers, our brother forever. Sam Rivers, we love you forever.”

The band’s first show back since Rivers’ passing saw them joined by bassist Richie Kid NotBuxton, who plays in the opening act, Australia’s Ecca Vandal’s band. When the group prepared to launch into Break Stuff, frontman Fred Durst said, “Now we’re gonna do this shit Limp Bizkit style. Tonight, this one’s for Sam Rivers.”

Before hitting the stage, Limp Bizkit drummer John Otto shared a tribute to Rivers on social media, describing the first show without him as “a first I never wanted to experience.”

“Today is going to be tough. A first I never wanted to experience. Especially not now,” Otto wrote. “You’ve been there for so many major firsts in my life. Some of my earliest memories were made with you. We grew up together. Laughed together. Realized our dreams together. And traveled the world together. You’ve always been there. The godfather to my girls, my best friend — my brother. There will never be another you.”

He continued, “We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play. You’ll always be with us.”

Last month, Limp Bizkit confirmed that they’d continue touring following Rivers’ passing.

Promoters for the band’s Mexico City show shared a statement, via The PRP, confirming that the dates would go ahead.

“Limp Bizkit has decided to continue with its performance on November 29th at the Explanada Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, as part of its ‘Gringo Papi Tour’ 2025,” the statement reads.

The message added: “That night, every riff and every scream of the crowd will resonate in honor of the great legacy Sam offered to Nu-Metal, because his energy will never cease.”
