Australian duo Oli and Louis Leimbach – the masterminds behind indie music force Lime Cordiale – will embark on an exciting new venture this year, announcing the launch of the climate-focused event, Lime Green Festival.

An initiative true to the brothers’ passions, Lime Cordiale are launching the festival in partnership with Chugg Music, aiming to deliver a 100% off-grid event. The band are committed to reducing the environmental impact of music festivals while still providing a dynamic day of live music, culture and connection.

Taking place at the Point Malcolm Reserve in Adelaide on Saturday, 18 April, the all-ages event will feature a carefully curated program of live music, talks, interactive workshops, and activations. Headlined by Lime Cordiale, the event also features indie-folk act The Dreggs, local pop queen aleksiah, up-and-coming pop-rockers PASH, and a triple j Unearthed winner.

Pre-sale tickets will be available at 9 am AEDT on Tuesday, 20 January – sign up here for access – ahead of the general sale at 9 am AEDT on Friday, 23 January. You can find tickets and more information on the Lime Green Festival website.

Lime Cordiale are hoping to run the main stage, and perhaps the entire festival, off-grid. The goal has become a possibility thanks to a partnership with Aggreko, one of the world’s largest providers of mobile, industrial-scale batteries backed by vegetable-oil generators.

In addition to going off-grid, Lime Green Festival will feature other green initiatives such as reusable and renewable catering solutions, solar and bike-powered device charging, upcycled merch – some made with seaweed – and encouraging punters to embrace low-emission methods of travelling to the festival.

Additionally, food and drink options will prioritise local, organic, and carbon-neutral vendors, and the band will continue their support of The Solar Slice, an environmental ticketing initiative led by FEAT. where $1 from ticket sales funds science-backed, climate and nature-based projects. The $1 Solar Slice from each festival ticket sold will support a South Australian community-led response to the algal bloom.

“From the accelerating loss of polar ice to the devastating algal blooms currently choking the South Australian coast, it is impossible to ignore that our climate is at a breaking point,” Oli and Louis said.

They continued, “For the last five years, we’ve wrestled with a deep, personal dilemma as environmentalists: Is our touring contributing to the problem? Does it still make sense in a world that’s hurting? Should we continue to tour at all?”

The brothers explained that, despite the dilemma, they decided not to give up touring but to change the way their lifestyle operates, adding that their aim for Lime Green Festival is to “stage the greenest music festival Australia has ever seen.”

“We’ve decided that the answer isn't to stop, but to change,” they said. “Live music is about the vital connection between people, and we believe that connection is exactly what we need to fuel a new way of doing things.

“Our aim is to stage the greenest music festival Australia has ever seen—rethinking everything from renewable stage power and transport to how we handle food and human waste.

“This is a genuine attempt to discover what is possible. We aren’t claiming to be perfect; we will make mistakes along the way, but we are trying. We’re inviting you to be part of this experiment. Come and hear some incredible Aussie music, but also come to see what a different future looks like. Let’s find out what we can achieve, together.”
