The rapper was performing at this year's High Times Medical Cannabis Concentrates Cup in San Bernardino, California
The organisers of High Times magazine's Medical Cannabis Concentrates Cup —held in San Bernardino, California, this past weekend —are waiting for an explanation from rapper Lil Wayne after the performer stormed off-stage after four songs.
According to a statement released on High Times' website, Lil Wayne was "contractually committed to performing for an hour" but nonetheless departed after about 10 minutes (though earlier reports quoted five or as few as three minutes for Wayne's overall performance time), apparently due to displeasure with a lack of enthusiasm from the crowd — though even the organisers aren't entirely sure what happened to cause the snap.
"We have no idea why, after a stellar performance by B.o.B, Lil Wayne suddenly ended his performance after just four songs," the statement read.
"We are truly baffled by why Lil Wayne would do this in front of thousands of Cannabis Cup attendees — in total disregard for his fans — and are awaiting an explanation from his team," it continued.

In a video posted to Instagram by user mob1up, Wayne can be heard saying, "They must really be high out there, they're real mellow tonight. I don't like that mellow shit…I'm from the South, we [turn up]," a quote that was also independently relayed in part to Lil Wayne fan-site Lil Wayne HQ by a punter in the audience.
In additional footage obtained by TMZ (also apparently sourced from Instagram), a clearly annoyed Lil Wayne can be seen saying to someone side-of-stage, "Don't you ever call me to do this shit again. Ever. Don't you ever, ever, ever, ask me to do this shit again," during the intro to We Be Steady Mobbin', a collab with Gucci Mane originally released in 2014.
It was during that song that Lil Wayne clearly decided he'd had enough and made his premature departure, according to reports. As XXL notes, Instagram user drdina420 had apparently captured most of the short set and posted it to their profile, although several of those posts have now been deleted. However, they've kept active a post featuring side-stage footage of Lil Wayne dropping his microphone and making a decidedly angry-looking exit.
Still —other than what few clues can be pieced together from the surviving footage —organisers of the event remain totally in the dark as to Lil Wayne's reasons for his actions.
"High Times works tirelessly to produce professional events that are entertaining, educational and fun for the thousands of marijuana and music enthusiasts who attend our Cannabis Cups," High Times' statement read. "We have a rich history of bringing superstar musical talent to Cannabis Cups, including Wiz Khalifa, The Roots, De La Soul, Wyclef Jean, The Game, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and many more.
"High Times puts on nearly a dozen successful events a year all over the country, and we have never experienced anything like Lil Wayne's bizarre behaviour."
