Legendary Naarm/Melbourne band Sex On Toast have returned with their long-awaited new album, Pegasus.
After 20 years on the live music scene Sex On Toast have indeed reached the status of legends, with their acclaimed live shows seeing them sell out live shows all around the country, and even nab a recent support slot for the iconic Todd Rundgren.
Now, their latest album has arrived to cement their worth as one of the country’s best-kept musical secrets.
The follow-up to their 2014 debut, Pegasus has been a long time coming for Sex On Toast, having begun production on the record in Los Angeles in 2020. Slowly recorded between 2021 and 2023 in Melbourne, the result is a genre-defying release which blends classic Australiana with the charm of old-school Hollywood.
Bold in its execution, the album features more than 36 credited musicians, including Australian jazz extraordinaire Barney McAll and cult comedy figure Neil Hamburger.

Much like the mythical winged horse found in its title and cover art, Pegasus is a record which defies expectations and moves between sounds and genres with ease.
From the orchestral opening of the aptly-titled Opening Credits, to the groovy Somebody Like You, the band switch between genres with ease, moving toward jazzy jams, to hazy piano-led compositions, and even an ironic takedown of the album courtesy of Hamburger.
Ultimately, it's a record that proves the versatility of Sex On Toast and underlines why this new record has been worth the wait.
Sex On Toast will also be promoting the release of Pegasus with a national album tour throughout November and December. Tickets to their upcoming run of shows are on sale now.
