Laneway Festival Announces 'Controversial' Set Times: Clashes Galore

Laneway Festival have today revealed their set times and stages for their event which is a mere three weeks away.

The set times have landed controversially with many fans complaining about some mega-clashes. With a single day festival, with as stacked a line up as Laneway's, clashes are expected.

In Sydney, many fan's are complaining that 100 Gecs, who are performing on the electronic music focussed stage are classing with Phoebe Bridgers. While yes, vibe wise they are completely different vibes, both are Queer icons in their own right, with many fans probably purchasing tickets to see them both. The artists also clash in Perth. 

The main issues in the comment section of their post arise with the Melbourne set times for the festival, with one of the biggest acts on the line up, Fred Again.. clashing with both other headliners, Joji and HAIM. One fan commented, "Why are HAIM and Fred Again literally ONLY clashing in Melbourne?! What did we do to deserve that."

Another stated, "These are the worst set times ever for Melbourne."

In Melbourne, Joji and Fred Again.. are clashing and one of the biggest bands on the line up, Turnstile clash with both Phoebe Bridgers and Joji.

While yes, the fans aren't happy, it is almost impossible to make sure that  tens of thousands of concert attendees across the country will be happy with the set times. This is just the brutal reality of a single day festival. 

Laneway also revealed that they've added Hockey Dad to the Brisbane and Sydney events, with Julia Jacklin heading to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Regrettably, Baltimore's hyped-up hardcore band, Turnstile, will no longer perform in Sydney and Brisbane due to a scheduling conflict with the Grammy Awards. The five-piece have been nominated for three Grammys, including Best Rock Performance for Holiday, Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Song for Blackout.

Turnstile’s Melbourne and Sydney sideshow dates have moved and upgraded to even bigger venues (Forum and Enmore Theatre), and they've added a brand-new show at Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall.
