The domination of the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters is set to continue, with a film trilogy, stage musical, and a live-action remake reportedly on the way.
KPop Demon Hunters premiered on Netflix on 20 June 2025. Since its release, the soundtrack has dominated the ARIA Albums and Singles Charts, so with a possible franchise on the way, we doubt the film will be leaving the public consciousness anytime soon.
With the premise of a K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, leading double lives as demon hunters who face off against their rival boy band, the Saja Boys, who are secretly demons, the original universe of the new film has been described as “charming, funny and artfully punchy” by The New York Times.
American entertainment website The Wrap (per Asia News) has recently reported on the film’s potential expansion to a film trilogy and further franchising by introducing a stage musical and live-action remake. The report also hints at a short film to “bridge content” between the sequel movies.
No announcement from Netflix has arrived yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the streaming giant capitalise on the film’s enormous, unexpected success.

At the time of publication, KPop Demon Hunters is the most-watched animated film on Netflix. But it didn’t find its viewership immediately; six weeks after its release, the movie reached peak views with over 26.3 million people tuning in to watch the film on the week of 21 to 27 July.
The movie’s soundtrack was produced by the K-pop label, Black Label, and features songwriters behind BTS hits. It features acts such as TWICE, MeloMance, Jokers, as well as songs from the film.
The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in mid-July and has since retained top spot.
The single, Golden, originally debuted at #8 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Last week, it hit #1, with additional soundtrack tracks Your Idol, Soda Pop, How It’s Done, What It Sounds Like, and Free picking up spots within the Top 10.
