Kendrick Lamar Unveils His Burner Instagram Account

Kendrick Lamar has unveiled the name of his Instagram burner account and has made it public, revealing hidden selfies, memes and pictures of his family to the world. 

On June 15, the Grammy award-winning rapper uploaded a selfie and a video to the Instagram account @jojoruski. 

As reported by XXLMag, the account was made public in the early hours of Friday morning, and in the hours following, Lamar's perceived alias had racked up well over 300,000 followers. At the time of writing, the account has 597k followers. 

The burner account was always followed by Lamar’s official account, and fans speculated whether or not @jojoruski was Lamar's burner account. However, it stayed a mystery because it was private. 

On the account, the rapper has posted a mix of memes, selfies and videos, matching the vibe of any regular punter's finsta account. 

Some fans took the opportunity to jokingly mock Lamar, with one writing: “This like watching a legendary Pokémon emerge”. Another added: “When you tell your mom you missed the bus, and she makes you walk to school as punishment.”

He also uploaded a video of himself in the studio holding his child while working on his last studio album, Mr Morale & The Big Steppers.

Arguably one of his best albums, good kid, m.A.A.d city, opened Lamar up to a whole new fanbase with singles such as Swimming Pools (Drank) and Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe. On its release, the album instantly became a quintessential West Coast anthem that explored the city of Compton through Lamar’s eyes.

Good kid, m.A.A.d city has been certified triple platinum, selling 242,000 copies in its first week, and features guest appearances from Drake, Dr. Dre and Jay-Z. It was the rapper's first major label debut after his independently released first album Section.80, in 2011.

The reissue came out just after Lamar released his fifth studio album Mr Morale and the Big Steppers, which is seen as his most confessional body of work yet. 

It's also understood that Mr Morale & The Big Steppers was Lamar's last record on Top Dawg Entertainment. In August of last year, the rapper announced the news stating, "May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling. There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.”
