Just a few days after informing fans that they’d be rescheduling their Sydney show to this week, Karnivool have now postponed the Sydney and Canberra shows on their Ad Complementum Australian tour.

On Saturday (26 July), the Australian rockers shared some not-so-great news, revealing that frontman Ian Kenny was suffering from a chest infection and, after consulting with a doctor, had been told not to sing that night as he’d be risking “permanent damage.”

The band pushed back the show until tonight (30 July) at the same venue – Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. “We are so sorry to let you down as we know many folks have travelled and made plans around this show, obviously it’s gutting for us as a group, but health comes first always,” the band wrote.

On Tuesday afternoon (29 July), Karnivool stated that while Kenny was recovering “quickly,” he still wasn’t “100% for a rock show.”

As a result of that, Karnivool postponed their shows that were set to take place at The Baso in Canberra and the Enmore Theatre, which were scheduled for last night and tonight, respectively. At the time of writing, their shows for the rest of the week are still going ahead as planned.

The new shows have been moved to October. The Enmore Theatre show will now take place on Sunday, 19 October, and The Baso show on Monday, 20 October. Fans will receive emails from ticketing companies about refunds if they can’t make the new dates.

Karnivool have been travelling across the country on their Ad Complementum Australian tour, which has seen them play the live debut of new songs Drone and Ghost, seemingly from their long-awaited fourth album, which is set to be released this year.

According to a press release, Karnivool have been in a Perth studio for “the better part of five months.”

Across the 13 shows on their upcoming Ad Complementum Australian tour, the band have been showcasing “new material, road-tested for the first time,” while older songs have been “bent into new shapes.” This tour has allowed Australian fans to “get a taste of the next chapter of Karnivool before the rest of the world.”

Kenny said of the tour and the band’s new music, “We can’t bloody wait to get out there and share what’s been brewing in the Karnivool riff pot, and show folks what they have to look forward to.”
