After over five decades of releasing music and touring the globe, beloved ‘80s rockers Journey are calling it quits.

In 2026, the Don’t Stop Believin’ hitmakers will embark on their Final Frontier farewell tour, with 60 North American tour dates published overnight. The tour begins on 28 February and concludes on 2 July. At the time of publication, no tour dates outside of the US have been announced.

“This tour is our heartfelt thank you to the fans who’ve been with us every step of the way — through every song, every era, every high and low,” said Journey founding member and lead guitarist Neal Schon, per SPIN Magazine.

“We’re pulling out all the stops with a brand-new production — the hits, the deep cuts, the energy, the spectacle. It’s a full-circle celebration of the music that’s brought us all together.”

Schon added, “As its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go. The sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain.

“While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we’ve shared, I want everyone to know I’m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank you and the beginning of what’s next.”

Schon formed Journey in 1973, along with keyboardist Gregg Rolie and bassist Ross Valory. By 1977, the American rock band found mainstream success following the hiring of lead vocalist Steve Perry. With Perry, Journey released a string of hits, particularly throughout the early ‘80s, such as Don’t Stop Believin’, Any Way You Want It, Open Arms, Separate Ways, Faithfully, Wheel In The Sky, and many more.

Perry departed the band in 1988 and was replaced by numerous singers. Longtime vocalist Arnel Pineda joined the band in 2007 and remains until the farewell tour.

Along with Pineda and Schon, the members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icons – inducted in 2017 – include keyboardists Jonathan Cain and Jason Derlatka, drummer Deen Castronovo, and drummer Todd Jensen.

Journey toured Australia for the first – and what might be the only – time in February and March 2013 during a co-headline run with Deep Purple.

Reviewing the event at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, The Music’s Andy Hazel said of the impressive performance, “Journey’s early set is packed with spiralling lights, colossal riffs and massive drum fills from the opening blast of Separate Ways, and there’s no let up.”

Hazel added, “Any Way You Want It, Faithfully and Wheel In The Sky are all epic, but none touch the crowd response to THAT song. Don't Stop Believin' is everything the crowd want, and before the opening riff finishes, the arena is lit by phones – the opening lines sung as one.”
