Sydney-based artist Allegra Neve takes out the award.
The annual Josh Pyke Partnership has been awarded this year to Sydney-based artist Allegra Neve.
Pyke himself noted that Neve “writes incredibly accomplished songs by anyone’s standards” with “insightful lyrics, strong musical instincts and melodies for miles”.
“Remarkably, Allegra has been applying for the JP Partnership since she was 10 years old!” Pyke said.
“Every year I’ve been blown away by her talent, but it’s now, at the grand old age of 13, that her music has developed to the point where she’s ready to take it to the next level.
“Congratulations Allegra, I’m so pleased to present you with this opportunity, and look forward to watching the amazing things you’ll no doubt go on to do.”
Neve added: “This is amazing! I’m so honoured to be awarded the JPP 2021! I think I’m still in shock! Huge thank you to Josh and his team! This is exactly what I needed and really can’t believe it. It means the world to me and appreciate it so much!”

Neve will receive a grant of $7,500 to help shape her upcoming musical projects, as well as direct mentorship from Pyke.
Pyke also highlighted some other notable applicants this year:
“For me, 2021 has been the most difficult judging process to date. There were so many fantastic entries that had such a variety of things to offer, and with Covid having placed my industry in turmoil, I wish I could have offered the prize to more people," Pyke said.
“With that in mind, I’d like to give special mention to the following acts, you’re all bloody brilliant creatives, and whilst I can’t offer you the prize money, please feel free to reach out to me anytime at all!”
