Teddy Swims and NRL fans alike have been concerned for days after the singer cancelled a pair of shows ahead of his appearances in Australia.
Last month, it was confirmed that the Lose Control hitmaker would headline the entertainment at the NRL Grand Final this Sunday (5 October). However, his performance was thrown in doubt when, last Friday, Swims cancelled a pair of shows in Hawaii.
At the time, the singer hadn’t addressed his forthcoming visit to Australia and New Zealand, which begins with a performance at the NRL Grand Final and continues with an arena tour.
In good news for fans, it’s been confirmed that Teddy Swims will be performing at the NRL and NRLW Grand Final events this Sunday.
The NRL shared the good news with Nine, revealing that the soulful singer would perform at Sydney’s Accor Stadium as the Brisbane Broncos face the Melbourne Storm.
When Nine asked if Swims would still perform this weekend, the NRL’s General Manager for Media and Communications, Glenn Jackson, said he would “absolutely” take to the stage.

Acknowledging the concerns over Swims’ health and potential cancellation, Jackson added, “We’ve been saying for days he’s coming.”
Upon cancelling his tour dates in Hawaii, the singer took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, “My doctor has not cleared me to sing, and I need a little more time to recover before I can give you the show you deserve.”
He added, “I hate to disappoint you and truly apologise for letting you down. Thank you for your love, patience, and understanding. I can’t wait until I’m back and able to sing for you again.”
Swims’ I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy Australian Tour was first announced back in March and will take place this month. The shows mark his first visit to the country since 2023, and serve as his biggest shows on local shores to date.
Due to phenomenal demand, extra dates have been added in multiple cities. Shows in Christchurch, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth are sold out, with remaining tickets available for additional shows on the Frontier Touring website.
Upon being announced as the NRL Grand Final headline performer, Swims said, “I am so excited to be performing at the 2025 NRL Grand Final!
“Australia has always been a second home to me. Every time I am there, I am overwhelmed by how welcoming the people are, I fall more in love with the culture, and just everything about it. So, to be welcomed to perform one of the biggest nights in Australia is a huge honour.”
Alongside his performances, Swims is scheduled to appear as a keynote speaker at SXSW Sydney this month.
